In mid-2020, he was determined to find a social media rewards strategy that would be both <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">globally appealing <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">locally<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">convenient <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to use.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have so many users in different countries, but we also wanted to offer social media rewards that were more local and convenient for them wherever they lived,\u201d says Scott, the operation manager at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clipclaps.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ClipClaps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a social media network that rewards users for sharing short videos.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>\u201cOffering prepaid top-ups as rewards just made things so much easier,\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> he discovered.<\/span><b>&nbsp;<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ClipClaps\u2019 business model is completely built around social media rewards, so the idea of <\/span><b>integrating an airtime and data top-up API <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to provide internationally transferable mobile rewards from multiple operators made natural sense to Scott.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ClipClaps tagline, \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cash For Laughs,\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hints at the company\u2019s main objective &#8212; instead of monetizing social media users\u2019 data solely for the company\u2019s coffers, ClipClap gives back some of the profits made from data to its users in the form of various social media rewards.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Up until recently, however, ClipClaps\u2019 social media rewards were distributed only as cash payouts.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scott had to find a new way to<\/span><b> deliver rewards to users in regions with large underbanked populations <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8212; the majority of ClipClaps\u2019 user base.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This posed a significant roadblock to ClipClaps\u2019 current cash-payout rewards system, and thus the company\u2019s entire business model.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMost of our users come from Brazil, the Philippines and Indonesia,\u201d says Scott.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This got Scott thinking.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fact that<\/span><b> the majority of ClipClaps\u2019 user base is in regions that are dominated by prepaid plans<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> could offer a rewards strategy opportunity that would be warmly received, easily deployable and with global reach.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New technology would play a big role.
